About our Sixth Form

The Westfield Academy ethos of high expectations and individual care and support continues into our Sixth Form.

We have a large, popular Sixth Form which offers a broad curriculum with a wide range of A-Level and Vocational courses. Our students are provided with the best opportunities possible.

  • Today at lunchtime, some of our English team welcomed Year 7 and Year 8 students into the library to make their own bookmarks. This event was held in honour of World Mental Health Day, which takes place tomorrow, Friday 10th October - a time to reflect on how we can look after our wellbeing. It's well known that arts and crafts can help manage the mind by: Reducing stress and anxiety Helping you focus on the present moment Boosting creativity and self-expression Providing a calming, mindful break from screens and study It was a lovely way for students to unwind, socialise with friends, and express their creativity. The event was so popular that we're already thinking about what to plan next!   • Year 11 in the Wild! Our amazing Year 11 students have been out in the field this week, taking their GCSE Biology studies beyond the classroom! They carried out an ecological field study, investigating biodiversity, population sampling, and the health of local ecosystems. From quadrats to transects, they collected real data, made observations, and applied key scientific skills all while enjoying the great outdoors. A brilliant hands-on experience and a fantastic step towards their final exams.   • A fantastic performance from our Year 10 Netball Girls on Monday who secured a thrilling win against St Michael's! Ahead for the first two quarters, a tough third quarter created an opportunity for the opposition to take a 3 point lead but with strong defensive turnovers and smart attacking adjustments, they held their nerve to clinch victory in the final 60 seconds.
